Stichel - Leipzig
A Very Special Upright Piano from my Collection

This is your opportunity to purchase one of my favourite pianos. It was made in Leipzig between 1902 - 1912 and the area renown for other quality Germany pianos like Bluthners.

Theses pianos are very highly rated (5 Star), the top positions being held by pianos like Bosendorfer, Grotrian Steinweg and Steinways all with 6 Stars. To verify this, please click on the following link: http://www.pianos.co.uk/info/ratings.php3 and you will find Stickel (Spelt as its pronounced!)

If you have never heard of this piano before, then I'm sure you will have heard of Schimmel? A little history below details how the fine Schimmel piano company came to exhist.

Wilhelm Schimme l Since the days of Silbermann and FrIcclericl, it has been primarily Germanspeaking piano manufacturers who made decisive contributions to the evolution of the modern grand and upright piano . Among them was Wilhelm Schimmel (1854 1946), son of a choirmaster. At the age of 16, he began an apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker, A year later he was making accordians and violins. From that time on, musical-instrument making was his first love. At the age of 22, he gave up a secure position as a supervisor in a large cabinetmaking concern in Saxony to start all over again as an apprentice piano builder at the eminent Stichel piano factory in Leipzig . Eight years later, his yearning for independence and his confidence in his own abillties motivated him to found his own company.

The Piano was completed at the factory on or around the 19th April 1922. This information is documented inside the piano behind the new black fabric. Quite nice to see the all the workers tick sheet is still intact.

Although the piano is this old, it has obveously undergone Re-Stringing within the past 15 years, overhauls and servicing.

It was fully serviced and re-tuned a few weeks ago after the case had been fully stripped and Re-French Polished.
So you will be bidding to buy a very nice piano that will play well for many years to come. I will of course check the tuning before it leaves my home.

All these pictures were taken this week and I'm sure you will notice how beautiful it is.

It has all the original keys that have been re polished so your fingers will glide over them easily and none of them have any stains or chips!

The action has also been serviced and it is very nice. Responsive when you want it, all notes and touch are uniform. I personally find the touch somewhere between an upright and a grand. Not as light as many Uprights, but not as heavy as many grands. In all, its a good piano to play before you move up to a grand.

The Soundboard, Cast iron frame and Wrest Plank are perfect, No cracks and No loose tuning pins.

As a result the piano is tuned to concert pitch and remains in tune for many months.

The Dimensions are:

Width: 59 inches (1500mm)

Height: 48.50 inches (1235mm)

Depth: 24 inches (615mm)

I'm sure you will see from these pictures that this piano is of the fine quality and will give you many years of trouble free playing and pleasure.

This is only one one of my pianos and I always have a few more that will suit all types of pianists. It has been a while since I last advertised and getting pianos up to this standard does take me quite a lot of my time.

Please take time to read my feedback and you will see 100% excellent feedback! You can also see the pianos that I received all this very positive feedback for on my website: www.pianospares.com

Before you dash off to your nearest piano dealer or cross your fingers and bid on another piano please contact me first. I will be more than happy to give you some advise and demanding questions to ask another seller!

WARNING! Don't waste money and time on a piano that has not been tuned for years! There is often a very good reason for this! The piano may be scrap or goes out of tune quickly! A £100 bargain may well end up costing you a few thousand or £75 a month for a piano tuner if he does not give you the bad news to scrap it.

I will require bidders who have a feedback of below 5 or have been registered for less than 4 weeks to give me a call before bidding!
Delivery will only be to a ground floor location that does not require moving upstairs or more than 3 steps to access! In the very rare event that the piano can not be maneuvered into the ground floor room of your choose, please ensure you have another suitable location available.
The piano can be collected as long as it has been paid for prior with cleared funds or payment for the piano can be made in full before delivery or if you prefer, in cash on delivery as long as my delivery fee has been paid for in advance.
